    The purpose of this position is to support the Benefits and Plan Compliance team to help develop, maintain and update all legally required/compliance benefit plan documents. This involves staying current with all applicable employee benefit law as it pertains to each Plan within the organization to which this position is assigned. This position will also be responsible for coordinating the identification and resolution of various benefit and eligibility issues across multiple disciplines as it pertains to the rules and regulations of the Plans to which this position is assigned.


    The Plan Compliance and Benefits Analyst is also responsible for preparing understandable and accurate communications that meet legally required and health literacy standards designed to educate participants about their benefit coverage. This position will also assist with the preparation of resolutions for Board of Trustee meetings, as needed.

    • Support the Benefits and Plan compliance team by updating documentation for Supervisor/Director review in a timely manner so that the Las Vegas plan units comply with ERISA reporting and disclosure requirements:

      • Plan documents
      • Summary plan descriptions Summary annual reports (SARs)
      • Summaries of material modifications (SMMs)
      • Summaries of Benefits and Coverage (SBCs)
    • Coordinate the content/editorial review of all ERISA documents and procedures with the Supervisor of Benefits and
    • Plan Compliance to resolve discrepancies, ambiguities and obtain the required approvals

    • Prepare drafts of necessary benefit and administrative amendments and associated plan documents in a timely manner

    • Update all plan documents and communication materials in a manner complying with all federal benefits and benefits related legislation and regulations

    • Maintain electronic archives of all plan documents, e.g. plan document, amendments, summaries of material modifications, summary plan descriptions and summaries of benefits and coverage

    • Assist in drafting Board of Trustee plan amendments and resolutions describing the proposed benefit change, including associated research and data requests, as needed.

    • Coordinate documentation being presented to the Trustees and then incorporate amendments into the working Plan Documents

    • Coordinate review and distribution of legally-required notices to government entities and participants and, where applicable, coordinate with Communications Department on finalization to ensure timely distribution.

    • Assist in the research and evaluation of contemporary benefit developments to assess their impact on plan design, administration and communications.

    • Skills and Abilities

      • Intermediate level Microsoft Office skills (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator)
      • Intermediate level Microsoft Excel skills
      • Strong written communication skills
      • Strong verbal communications skills, including the ability to communicate technical terms and ideas to non-technical staff, professionals, participants, etc.
      • Proofreading and editing skills
      • Interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills
      • The ability to conduct research and provide an analysis with a recommendation
      • Bi- or Multi-lingual skills (written and/or verbal) a plus
      • Ability to work in a team environment.
      • Ability to manage competing deadlines and multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
      • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff.

    Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required

    License: N/A

    Certification Required: Working towards a Certified Employee's Benefits Specialist  (CEBS) desired, bu tnot required

    Minimum Years’ Experience: 3-5 years of related expereince in a healthcare or benefits administration role

    Other Requirements:

    • Experience in a healthcare, benefits administration or compliance work environment
    • Working knowledge in welfare benefit plans as it relates to plan design and administration
    • Working knowledge of employee benefits legal environment (ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA)
    • Working knowledge and experience in drafting health plan communications and other documentation
