    The purpose of this position is to provide support to the Culinary Health Fund’s Advocacy, Communications, and participant services and programs, and assist with the development of communications for the Culinary Health Center. This position collaborates with the Union and departments throughout the Fund to develop innovative programs and communications that help participants understand their benefits.



    • Coordinate with other departments in the creation and distribution of materials, including drafting, revising, proofread all materials, approval, production, and distribution for all participant bilingual communications. Materials include newsletters, directories, forms, brochures, etc.
    • Support Fund efforts to identify education needs of participants and providers, and support all phases of design and implementation of benefit information, navigation, and education campaigns.
    • Assist in presentation of participant educational programs.
    • Support and coordinate Union liaison operations and projects, including new property enrollment events.
    • Responsible for onsite employer education programs and materials, including employer-based health and benefit events.
    • Communicate with vendors for all printing and promotional materials.
    • Translation of small projects, when needed.
    • Perform the above-listed position functions independently (or with limited supervision) and within time frame defined for the specific task by Fund Management.
    • General administrative support to Manager of Communications and Communications department including telephone support, typing, meeting agendas and minutes, and work plan coordination
    • Sets goals and achieve measurable results
    • Contributes ideas to plans and achieving department goals
    • Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibilities and requirements of the job

    Years of Experience and Knowledge

    • 2 ~ 3 years of direct experience minimum
    • Working knowledge and experience in a Union operation and/or Taft-Hartley environment desirable
    • A general understanding of the print/publishing processes
    • Experience in print layout
    • Experience or knowledge of health literacy principles

     Education, Licenses, and Certifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Communications or related field or equivalent work experience required

    Skills and Abilities

    • Intermediate level Microsoft Office skills (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
    • Intermediate level Adobe Creative Cloud skills (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) on a Mac
    • Intermediate level Microsoft Excel skills
    • Fluency (speak and write) in Spanish strongly desired
    • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), spelling, grammar, and punctuation skills including the ability to prepare aesthetically pleasing materials geared to the appropriate audience
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment, e.g., flexibility, maturity, ability to successfully handle complex situations, empathy, sensitivity and tact
    • Excellent organization skills with high attention to detail
